VISIT TOURIST/FAMILY VISA (L-visas) –
L visas are suitable for foreign nationals wishing to visit China for tourist purposes, or to visit their family or any other personal affairs.
Supporting documentation:
An original passport which has more than 6 months left before it expires from the date of application and at least 2 blank visa pages;
Evidence of the applicant UK immigration status, if applicable - the right to reside and work in the UK should be for at least 6 months;
One recent passport sized photographs on light plain background;
A dully completed and signed Visa Application Form ( Download ) – if you have a Chinese name it should be included in the form in Chinese – undecipherable characters may result in your application being rejected - ENSURE that your signature on the form is identical to your signature in your passport
A child of Chinese origin, who was born outside China and is under the age of 6, will have to provide his/her long birth certificate showing the name of both parents and evidence that his/her parents have permanent residence in the UK or are British.
Visa applicants planning to tour Tibet should contact the Tourism Administration of the Tibet Autonomous Region (Tel: 0086-891-6834313; Fax: 0086-891-6834632) to obtain a visa notification which will be necessary to make their visa application.
Visa applicants seeking a visa to do a "special" tour of China should provide visa notification issued by China National Tourism Administration or the tourism administration of related province, autonomous region or municipality directly under the Central Government. Special tours include self-driving, hiking, cycling, horse-riding, hot air balloon, or other expeditions.
For group tour, the following documentation is required:
1 - A letter or telegram of visa notification issued by authorized travel agencies including China International Travel Service Head Office, China Travel Service Head Office, China Youth Travel Service Head Office and the tourism administration of related province, autonomous region and municipality directly under the Central Government;
2 - A list containing the name of each member of the group. If the last page of the list has left a blank, a straight line should be drawn across the blank from its upper corner on the left to the lower corner on the right;
3 - The original passport of each group member and a photocopy of the information page from each passport, which should be arranged in line with the list;
4 - A letter issued by the travel agency organizing the tour, which must indicate the group number, total number of group members, the details of the contact person and the full itinerary of the tour.
